Agate is a cryptocrystalline variety of silica, made up of mostly chalcedony. It has a very fine grain, and often has a banded appearance. It was named by a Greek philosopher, who discovered it in what is now Sicily. 

These Black Agate beads are so small and cute. These would be perfect for a necklace, bracelet or anklet. There coloring is quite dark with the odd light color bead. 

Agates are thought to be grounding, stabilizing stones that are ideal for emotional, physical and mental balance.
