Marble is a metamorphic rock that is made up of recrystallized carbonate minerals, typically Calcite or Dolomite. Marble can be foliated (repetitively layered metamorphic rock), and in Geology Marble refers to metamorphized limestone, and is used frequently in sculptures or as a building material.

These Marble beads have been dyed to a breathtaking lavender color. The vibrant purple color shows nicely with the matte finish. These are really cute!

Historically marble has been the most common medium for ancient Greek and Roman sculptures and architecture, which means that much of the most beloved sculptures today would not exist without this fascinating metamorphic rock.
