I often like talking about animals and sharing little things that I love about them with you. I recently learned that black-capped chickadees are some of the first birds to start singing to each other in the spring, sometimes even late winter. Much earlier than other birds! They believe this to be because female chickadees are picky about their mate. They want to be sure that he is the one and the ladies make him work for it! Seeing them even still today come to my feeders makes me smile. They are absolutely adorable all puffed up in the tree waiting their turn for a snack.
